In a traditional shopping experience, buyers can hold and examine merchandise and ask a sales person for more information, face-to-face. Sellers can easily instill customer confidence and trust in their buyers by their professional, friendly tone and demeanor.

With online shopping, sellers must re-create this same atmosphere of trust using only their description text. Write your descriptions as though you were speaking to a buyer face-to-face. Put yourself in the buyer's shoes and ask yourself, “What would I need to know about the item? How would I like to be treated as a buyer?"

Remember, just as in life, at eBay we expect everyone to treat each other as they would like to be treated.
