To show details best, illuminate your photo area so there is even and diffuse lighting across the item you are photographing. Ordinary household lamps with shades work surprisingly well.
If you use clamp or flood lights, try bouncing the light off of a white wall or ceiling onto the item. This will help to diffuse the light.
Avoid using flash. Flash can wash out colors and create glare. It's much better to use ambient lights to create a bright environment where items are bathed in diffuse indirect light. If your camera has a built-in flash, read the directions to learn how to turn it off. |
